“But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.” (Gen 6:8)
Genesis 6 is no children’s bedtime story. It paints a very gloomy picture of man’s true state: corruption, depravation and evil to the very core.
Calvin, commenting on Genesis 6:5, says, “[Moses] …declares that men were not only perverse by habit, and by the custom of evil living; but that wickedness was too deeply seated in their hearts, to leave any hope of repentance.” (Calvin 1847:174)
And yet still, God, who is rich in mercy, by grace saves Noah, his wife, his sons and their wives, eight in total, and brings them through the flood ensuring the continuity of His promise.
This series attempts to answer the question, “Present a “Royal Line of Salvation” throughout the Old and New Testament. Start at Genesis 3:15 passing through Isaiah 9:6 and ending at John 3:16. Join together at least twenty verses outlining the salvation story.” by giving a chronological account of the genealogy of Christ recorded in Luke 3.
