“The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.” (Gen 49:10)

The Royal Line of Salvation is not a rigid path from oldest son to oldest son, it also doesn’t capitulate down the human trail of dominance, rather, Judah, the fourth son of Jacob and Leah, is the chosen forbearer of Christ.

The future fulfilment of Jacob’s oracle in Genesis 49:10 is described by Kidner as, “speak[ing] of exuberant, intoxicating abudance: it is the golden age of the Coming One, whose universal rule was glimpsed in [v.] 10c” (Kidner 1967:219)

This series attempts to answer the question, “Present a “Royal Line of Salvation” throughout the Old and New Testament. Start at Genesis 3:15 passing through Isaiah 9:6 and ending at John 3:16. Join together at least twenty verses outlining the salvation story.” by giving a chronological account of the genealogy of Christ recorded in Luke 3.
