You should be a “Finger-lickin’ good” Christian

The kids and I at KFC on Father’s Day a few months ago. Finger lickin’ fun. Click any image to enlarge.

I really wish that Christians were a bit more like KFC. You see there’s something to be said about the branding. Go into any KFC, take Rivonia, and order a Streetwise 2; feast down; then drive to KCF Fourways and order the same meal. Both times, “Finger-lickin’ good!”

Christians, in general, just aren’t like that. Take the blogsphere for instance, there’s just no consistency. This one moans and groans like they’ve got appendicitis and that one has a bee in their bonnet because of the color of the carpet. This bunch of people dislike that group over there and that group absolutely hate the other guys. It’s a mine field!

Where’s the common Christlikeness?

John, writing Christ’s own words, records a bit on Christian “branding” (no, I’m not advocating a wishy washy seeker sensitive methodology) in his gospel account,

34 “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 “By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

What’s the motto you live by? Are you identifiable as a Christian? Has Christ branded you yet? I’m starting to feel real hungry.
