Man, I love being a dad.

For a whole week Kaitlyn and Kathryn had been scurrying around the house hiding my “birthday present” in different places. My entry into rooms would often result in a cascade of protest, “Daddy, daddy, close your eyes! You can’t see the present!” On Sunday the two of them woke up extra special early to come and present me with my gift, a badge of honor, a cap with the word D A D painted boldly across the top.

Ha! I felt like a million bucks.

We’re trying to cut down on fast food and so it’s been about a month and a half since we indulged. After church we headed to KFC to celebrate the day. It was great.

On kids (rather than KFC): Solomon, a king, a jew, renown for his wisdom said the following:

3 Behold, children are a gift of the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward.
4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth.
5 How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them; They will not be ashamed When they speak with their enemies in the gate.

Is your quiver empty or full? Are kids a blessing? Do you celebrate this tradition?
